Open Day at the Chernex Workshops

On Saturday, 12th September 2026 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, as part of the MOB’s 125th anniversary celebrations, enjoy a rare immersion into the technical world of railways. Whether you are a train enthusiast, visiting with your family, or simply curious to discover our company, this exceptional day has been designed for you.
A rare behind-the-scenes experience: Access areas that are normally strictly reserved for our employees and discover how our trainsets are maintained.
Expert professions: Meet our specialists directly (mechanics, automation technicians, locksmiths) and learn about our career opportunities.
A festive local atmosphere: Enjoy the Chernex Development Society Craft Market
(around 20 stalls featuring crafts and flavours from around the world) and the
FSG Chernex community race.
Guided Tours
Step behind the scenes of the Montreux Oberland Bernois Railway! Accompanied by our experts, you will discover the precision of railway maintenance professions, our innovative technologies, and our traditions.
Price: Free of charge, but online booking is strictly mandatory.
Schedule: Departures every 15 minutes, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Capacity: Maximum 20 people per time slot.
Participants must arrive 10 minutes before departure
at the meeting point. After this deadline, places will be reassigned to visitors on the waiting list present on site.
Visit in French only
As the venue is an active technical workshop, closed-toe shoes are recommended. The event is open to everyone; however, children must be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for persons with reduced mobility or for strollers.
Getting to Chernex
There is no visitor parking available at the Chernex site. Park your vehicle at the Chailly P+R (then take the shuttle) or at the Montreux station P+Rail parking (then take the free train).
Free travel between Montreux and Les Avants: Train travel is free on the MOB network on the day for all stations between Montreux and Les Avants, so you can get to the open day.
Chailly P+R shuttle: A special free shuttle service is in operation to connect the Chailly P+R car park directly to the Chernex site.
